NEW BUILD

Per Ardua ad Astra

These pictures show the early stages of the new build Valiant. At the moment the fuselage frames are nearly all there and all the bottom fuselage stringers. As soon as the centre section is attached, I can complete the stringers and begin to sheet the fuselage.

Once this has been done, I can remove it from the jig and sheet the underside.

This one will be smaller than the first. I have planned it to come out under 20kg , less fuel, but have registered it with the LMA in case it goes over.

Being 1/10th scale will give it a span of around 3.4 meters and a length of around 3.2 meters.

The fuselage is being built as a 1 piece with removable tail plane halves. The wings will be 2 piece with each half ‘plugging in’ to the fuselage.

You will see from the photographs the centre section that will form part of the fuselage.

Currently the plan is to use two 3.2 liter tanks and using Jetcat P80’s they will have over 15 minutes duration.

Undercarriage is being made by the same company that made the first ones, but as this one is smaller, the operation will be lighter and less complicated.

I will keep this page updated with my progress and photos.

The following pictures were taken at my new

home, in the Valiant’s new workshop.
